About Us |
|
Our club started at Mathews Centre in the 1970s as Catholic Netball Association; we competed in Divisions 1 and 2 so that our State Teams got top competition.
We still have people involved in our Club from those early days, Donna Webb, Poppy Mallon and June Webb where all associated with Catholic Netball.
In 1988 when State League started, we had to choose a region to compete in. Due to the long association and the top competition at Perth Netball Association, which was then called the West Australian Netball Association, the Club decided to stay at the Mathews Centre. The Committee was then lead by June Webb, Bev Sheriff, Donna Webb, Poppy Mallon and Claire Holdsworth. However to stay at Mathews we had to change our name. After some discussion we all agreed on the name Sterling Netball Club. Our colours at that time where teal pleated skirt and a teal and cream top.
Sterling Netball Club rapidly grew and in 2006, we changed our name to Sterling Saints Netball Club and became known as Saints and our colours are now a gold, white and black dress. Finally, in 2007 our club became an incorporated association giving a final name change to Sterling Saints Netball Club Inc.
We pride ourselves on being called the Players Club and last season we had all nine teams finishing in the finals and taking off two premierships.
Still under the lead of June Webb, our Committee is very strong with a lot of youth in it all working for the goal of making Saints a great Club to belong to.
We welcome all new players, of any standard, and we also welcome any input into the club from players. |
